Plan B: Life on Mars?
教學(xué)設(shè)計(jì)
本節(jié)課選自外研版(2019版)選擇性必修二的Unit 6中的developing ideas板塊,主題語(yǔ)境是“人與自然”,涉及的主題語(yǔ)境內(nèi)容是生存。語(yǔ)篇類型為雜志文章,介紹了人類生存所面臨的問題以及人類在火星探索方面所做的努力,最后點(diǎn)明現(xiàn)在要做的是愛護(hù)我們唯一的家園——地球。
Teaching objectives
1. Understand the text and learn the problems humans are facing and our plans for the future.
2. Complete the corresponding activities and learn to infer more messages from the given text to strengthen the understanding of the text.
3. Deepen the understanding of the subject---survival, understand the importance of protecting the Earth and promote humans spirit of exploration and adaptability.
Key points in teaching:
to help students to understand the text and learn about humans efforts of Martian exploration; to grasp words and expressions about Martian exploration; to develop scientific spirit and sense of exploration.
Difficult points in teaching:
to help students to learn the basic knowledge of Mars and write survival experience.
Teaching procedures
I. Leading in
1. Teacher introduces Mars briefly using pictures or video.
2. Teacher asks students to choose the correct answer for each sentence.
3. Teacher checks answers.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:通過一個(gè)小測(cè)驗(yàn)激發(fā)學(xué)生對(duì)火星的好奇心,自然引入以激發(fā)學(xué)生的探索興趣。
II. Answering
1. Teacher asks students to read the whole passage and answer the following question -- why humans might live on Mars.
2. Teacher asks students to say something about the four magazines and choose the right magazine.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:學(xué)生對(duì)整篇文章形成總體感悟,掌握文章主旨大意,并對(duì)文章類型得到進(jìn)一步了解。
III. Inferring
1. Teacher asks students to read the seven statements.
2. Teacher asks students to work in pairs and choose the statements which can be inferred from the passage.
3. Teacher asks students to check their answers.
4. Teacher lets students learn the content of Learning to learn.
Practicing
Teacher asks students to practice more about the skill of inference after class.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:該教學(xué)步驟旨在通過閱讀掌握文章的小細(xì)節(jié)以幫助深入理解文本,并學(xué)習(xí)閱讀技巧—合理推斷。
IV. Mind mapping
1. Teacher asks students about the Biosphere 2 experiment.
2. Teacher asks students to Read the second half of paragraph 4 and complete the mind map.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:讓學(xué)生注意體會(huì)文本構(gòu)成中的段落主題句與細(xì)節(jié)分析句之間的關(guān)系,以幫助詳細(xì)理解篇章的主脈絡(luò),利用思維導(dǎo)圖,對(duì)生物圈2號(hào)實(shí)驗(yàn)有更全面、深入的理解。
V. Thinking and sharing
Teacher asks students to discuss the following questions and give their answers.
1. Would you like to be one of the first people to live on Mars?
Why or why not?
2. Can you think of a “Plan C” to save people from the problems on Earth ?
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:引起學(xué)生對(duì)移居其他星球(以火星為例)的深入理解,并激發(fā)學(xué)生的探索精神和弘揚(yáng)人類為適應(yīng)環(huán)境所作出的努力。
VI. Interviewing
1.Teacher asks students to work in pairs and make preparations for the interview.
2.Teacher asks students to think of more questions and fill them in the chart.
3.Teacher asks students to do the interview in pairs.
4.Teacher invites some pairs to act out their interviews and makes comments.
5. Teacher asks for the best interview.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:通過訪談節(jié)目,給學(xué)生展示的機(jī)會(huì),幫助學(xué)生進(jìn)一步鞏固文本結(jié)構(gòu),同時(shí)體會(huì)到有聲的語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)在表情達(dá)意方面的重要作用。同時(shí),引發(fā)學(xué)生對(duì)環(huán)境問題的思考以及對(duì)人類未來(lái)處境了設(shè)想,樹立積極向上的人生態(tài)度。提高自己的理解能力和表達(dá)能力,最終促進(jìn)自身語(yǔ)言能力、文化意識(shí)、思維品質(zhì)和學(xué)習(xí)能力的綜合提升。
VII. Homework
1. Review the whole passage.
2. Find more examples about humans efforts to survive or adapt to the environment.
設(shè)計(jì)意圖:鞏固和利用本課時(shí)所學(xué)內(nèi)容,強(qiáng)化篇章意識(shí),推斷能力以達(dá)到提高學(xué)生的讀寫技能的最終目的。
